Man gored in the head by a bull at NSW rodeo

A MAN is lucky to be alive after being gored in the head by a bull at a rodeo on the NSW Mid North Coast.

It happened in the country town of Wingham, near Taree, on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old was reportedly riding the bull when he fell off and the bull struck him in the head.

It’s understood one of the bull’s horns went into the young man’s helmet.

Incredibly, the man sustained only minor injuries and was able to run back to the chutes.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported by ambulance to the nearby Taree airport.

From there, the man was airlifted by the Wesptac Rescue Helicopter and flown to John Hunter Hospital.

A spokesperson for the rescue service said the man was airlifted in a stable condition.
