Man hit and killed by car while crossing busy Gold Coast road

A 74-year-old man has died after being hit by a car on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the man was crossing the two lanes of Christine Avenue around 8.45am on Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the Palm Beach man could not be saved and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, an 80-year-old man,  managed to escape uninjured.

Investigations into the crash are now underway.

The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for any witnesses to come forward, in particular, anyone with dash cam footage of Christine Avenue, between Bridgewater Drive and Regensberg Close.
