Man hit by bus near Kosciuszko National Park

A man is in hospital in a serious condition after he was hit by a bus near Kosciuszko National Park on Friday.

The 73-year-old man is believed to have parked his car near the entry to the national park at Bullocks Flat, and attempted to cross Alpine Way.

A bus travelling east along the same road hit the man at about 3.30pm on Friday.

Officers from an RBT post nearby went to help the victim, before he was airlifted to The Canberra Hospital to be treated for head injuries and a fractured femur.

He remains in hospital in a serious, but stable condition.

The male driver of the bus was not injured and taken to Cooma Hospital for mandatory testing.

Inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the crash continue, and any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.
