UPDATE: A MAN who was struck by a car on Gold Coast’s busy Smith Street Motorway last night has died in hospital.
Police said the man was struck by a car travelling east near Napper Road around 8.15pm on Sunday.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was critically injured and rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he later died.

The 18-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the car was not physically injured during the incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
SUN NIGHT: A MAN has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after he was reportedly hit by a car on Smith Street.
The incident occurred on near the intersection with Napper Road at Arundel around 8.30pm on Sunday.
First reports indicated that the man was seen stumbling along the busy stretch of road when he was apparently struck.
Traffic was brought to a halt, as emergency teams raced to the man’s aid.
Police closed eastbound lanes as investigations were carried out, causing long delays in the area.
