Man in hospital, fighting for life after narrowly escaping house fire

A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after collapsing moments after running out of a burning house in NSW.

Emergency services were called to the house ablaze on Telford Street at Leumeah, in Sydney’s southwest just before around 11pm on Saturday.

They arrived to find the house “well alight” and a 75-year-old man lying unconscious outside the home.

It’s understood the 75-year-old had escaped the burning home before collapsing in the front yard.

Firefighters performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived and took over.

He was then rushed to Sydney’s Concord Hospital where he remained in a critical condition this morning.

Crews then concentrated on dousing the flames, which had ripped through the home causing considerable damage.

Police attended and established a crime scene, however, the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
