Man hospitalised after nasty two car crash on the Gold Coast

A MAN has been taken to hospital following a nasty two-car crash on the Gold Coast.

The accident happened on the Gold Coast Highway at Miami, near the intersection with Miami Shore Parade, shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday.

It’s understood a vehicle lost control in wet weather and veered onto the wrong side of the highway where it was T-boned by a 4WD ute travelling in the opposite direction.

A witness to the smash said the out-of-control vehicle took out a light pole in the centre median strip before colliding with the 4WD on the other side of the road.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the collision. Miraculously, however, no one is thought to have been seriously injured.

The man behind the wheel of the out-of-control vehicle was trapped in the wreck for a short time before being released.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 4WD and his child passenger also escaped serious harm, with the vehicle’s airbags cushioning the impact.
