Man in court after stabbing, running over two women

A man will appear in court today after two women were struck by a car and stabbed in the car park of a community centre at Carramar yesterday.

About 8.30am (Tuesday 18 August 2015), emergency services were called to the car park on Horsley Drive, following reports that two women were injured.

Initial investigations suggest a woman, aged in her 30s, was allegedly assaulted before being struck by a car, driven by a man believed to be known to her.

When another woman, believed to be aged in her 40s came to her aid, the man allegedly stabbed both women before crashing into them with a car, and fleeing.

Both women were taken to Liverpool Hospital with serious injuries.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced.

Following investigations, about 10.30am yesterday, police arrested a 41-year-old man in Ada Street, Cabramatta.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he was charged with attempted murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man has been refused bail, to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 19 August 2015).
