Charges upgraded to murder after neighbour dies in hospital

UPDATE @ May 15 | A man will front court today charged with murder, after allegedly stabbing a neighbour in Logan.

Emergency services were called to a unit block in Waterford West around 8.15pm Wednesday night, following reports a man had been stabbed.

A 32-year-old man was rushed to hospital with a critical wound to his stomach, though sadly he later died.

Meantime, police arrested a 45-year-old man in a neighbouring unit. He was initially charged with acts intended to maim.

Those charges have now been upgraded to murder, following the death of the alleged victim in hospital.

He will front Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

EARLIER @ 11.50 AM, May 14 | A man who was stabbed during a fight at a unit block in Logan overnight has now died.

Police confirmed the 32-year-old Beachmere man passed away in the Princess Alexandra Hospital this morning.

It comes after officers were called to a unit block on Bourke Street in Waterford West around 8.15pm last night, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old man inside one of the units, suffering a stab wound from a knife to his stomach.

Another man, aged 45, was arrested inside a neighbouring unit.

He was charged with acts intended to maim and is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, however police say they will now consider further charges following the man’s death.

Investigations are continuing.

EARLIER @ 7.30 AM | A man is fighting for life after he was allegedly stabbed by a neighbour in Logan overnight.

Police say the 32-year-old got into a fight with another man in a Waterford West unit block around 8.00pm, before he was stabbed in the stomach with a knife.

Emergency services were called to the scene, where paramedics worked quick to get the man to hospital.

He was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Police located a 45-year-old man inside one of the other units and he was taken into custody a short time later.

He’s since been charged with acts intended to maim and is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
