Man charged with murder after teen’s body found in NSW home

A man has been charged with murder after the body of an 18-year-old woman was found in a home in the NSW Hunter this morning.

Police were called to a house on Galway Crescent at Metford shortly before 1.30am, where they spoke to a 20-year-old man outside.

It’s understood officers then made the grim discovery of the woman’s body inside the property.

The man was arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station, where he has since been charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.

A crime scene has been established at the home, with investigations by detectives attached to Port Stephens-Hunter PD, assisted by State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, now underway.

Police say the pair are known to each other.
