Officers spotted a stolen car driving erratically and at high speed on Compton Road in Sunnybank around 11.30pm on Friday.

Police say the chopper notified officers on the ground that the vehicle had driven to the end of Mitchum Way at Crestmead and appeared to be unoccupied.

As officers approached the car, it then turned on its headlights and drove towards the marked police van.

The police van took evasive action and swerved away from the vehicle which allegedly continued forward and struck an unmarked police car, at low speed and then drove away.

Police located the vehicle in nearby Lockyer Place where it had been abandoned by the driver.

Police will allege the driver then evaded police by running through backyards and onto a roof on Judith Street where officers negotiated with the man to come down.

A 23-year-old Yelarbon was taken into custody without incident and investigations into the incident are continuing.
