Man in strife, accused of ramming police car

A man is to appear in court, accused of stealing a car from the Gold Coast and ramming an unmarked police car on Sunday, October 5.

It will be alleged that a utility was stolen from Labrador around 3pm before being involved in a number of evade police and dangerous driving incidents in the Browns Plains, Drewvale and Stretton areas.

It will also be alleged that as police attempted to intercept the vehicle at Blaxland Street, Drewvale it was reversed into the unmarked police vehicle causing extensive damage. The vehicle drove off after also crashing into a parked vehicle and a fence. No one was injured during this incident.


The vehicle then crashed into a power pole at Gowan Road, Calamvale around 4.15pm with the male driver fleeing the scene.

It will be alleged a man then entered a Calamvale residence and hid inside before being disturbed by a resident around 8pm. After a search police arrested a man nearby around 9pm.

A 28-year-old Wacol man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, wilful damage of police property, fail to stop motor vehicle, drive without due care and attention, unlicenced driving and enter dwelling with intent by break. He is expected to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
