Man injured in “unprovoked attack” outside Gold Coast bar

A man has been hospitalised after being punched in the face in what police have described as an “unprovoked attack” outside a bar on the Gold Coast.

The pair are believed to have been standing in a line along Chairlift Avenue in Mermaid Beach around 11.00pm on Saturday night when they struck up a conversation.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC one of the men then turned around and punched the other in the face.


The victim, a man aged in his 30s, suffered facial injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

His alleged attacker ran from the scene and is yet to be tracked down.

No charges have been laid, with investigations ongoing.
