A man is dead and his friend has been seriously injured after a deadly joyride down a Sydney hill in a shopping trolley.
According to initial reports, the two 28-year-old Swedish friends were walking home from a night out early on Tuesday morning when they stumbled across the trolley.
The pair began riding down the long and steep Coogee Bay Road in Randwick when they crossed over to the wrong side of the road and collided with a car.

The impact was so hard both men were thrown onto the road.
Police say they had reached speeds of around 80km/h when they were hit.
One of the men died at the scene while the second man was helped by the driver and a passing cyclist before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed the dead man was a student who had been living in Australia for two years, while his friend had arrived in Australia just a week ago to visit.
The 45-year-old driver from South Coogee was not hurt and has undergone mandatory blood and urine testing.
Investigations into the accident are continuing.
