Man killed after car veers onto wrong side of road

A MAN has been killed after losing control of his car and smashing into a tree southwest of Sydney.

It happened on Douglas Park Road at Wilton around 3.15pm on Thursday.

Police said the man was travelling north when, for reasons unknown, his vehicle veered onto the wrong side of the road and smashed into a tree.

Emergency services arrived to find the driver deceased at the scene.

The man whose age is not known is believed to have been the only person travelling in the car.

A crime scene has been established and investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
