A MAN has died in a shocking head-on crash west of Sydney this morning.
The accident, involving a utility and truck, happened on the Great Western Highway at Mt Lambie around 5.20am.
“As a result of the crash, the utility has caught fire,” NSW police said in a statement.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, the driver could not be saved and died at the scene.
The driver of the truck was also injured and was treated by emergency services before being taken to hospital.
Police say diversions are in place near the crash site with motorists urged to avoid the area.
