UPDATE: A 48-year-old cattle station worker has died after he was struck by lightning in north west Queensland on Thursday afternoon.
Around 3pm, Daniel Constantine was hit while he was tending to horses at a property west of Normanton.
“The witnesses who were nearby saw a bolt of lightning but even at that stage weren’t aware that it actually struck Mr Constantine,” Superintendent Russell Miller told the ABC.

“It wasn’t until they actually went and got closer to where he was, they knew it was very close to where he had been but they actually were able to see that he was laying face down on the ground.”
He died at the scene shortly afterwards.
