Man killed by falling tree in NSW

A falling tree has killed the father of murdered school teacher Stephanie Scott.

Robert Scott had been clearing trees on a property near Canowindra
in the Central West of NSW, and didn’t come home last night.

Police say his body was found this morning.

His death comes less than three weeks after his daughter’s killer was jailed for life for murdering the young teacher on Easter Sunday last year.

Vincent Stanford, a school cleaner, confessed to murdering Ms Scott at Leeton High School where they both worked, days before she was to be married.

EARLIER: @ Nov 1, 2016, 1534: A man has died after he was struck by a falling tree in NSW.

Emergency services raced to a farm on Namami Road, near Canowindra at about 12.00pm today.

Officers said initial inquiries suggest the man, who is aged in his 60s, was clearing trees on the property when he was hit.

His body was discovered this morning.

Investigations are continuing.
