Man killed in crash on Sturt Highway

A MAN has died after crashing his car into a tree along a country highway in rural South Australia this morning.

The accident happened around 10.30am on the Sturt Highway, about 8km west of Blanchetown.

The driver and sole occupant, a 35-year-old man from Blanchetown, died at the scene.

Major Crash Investigators remain on scene with the Sturt Highway closed between the Blanchetown Bridge and Annadale.

West bound traffic is being diverted through to Swan Reach, while east bound traffic is diverted onto Halfway House Road.

The man’s death takes the State’s road toll to 87 as compared to 79 for the same time last year.
