Man killed in horror Gold Coast crash

A man has died after a horror crash on the Gold Coast on Monday night.

Queensland Police have confirmed the Mudgeeraba man was driving south on Robina Parkway around 8.15pm when he left the road and slammed into a tree at high speed.

The 69-year-old, who was the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene.

Emergency services had to close off the southbound lanes of Robina Parkway, between Cheltenham Drive and Scottsdale Drive, for some time.

There are reports the man may have suffered a medical condition in the lead up to the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to investigate.
