A MAN is dead after the light plane he was flying crashed near the town of Walgett, in northern NSW.
The aircraft came down in a field off Cryon Road at Cryon just after 10am this morning.
The small place exploded into flames on impact. Emergency services arrived to find the wreckage “well alight”.

Fire crews raced to extinguish the blaze, but it was too late.
A 46-year-old man who police said was the single occupant of the plane died in the inferno.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been tasked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
