Tourist killed in two car crash outside Australia Zoo

A MAN has been killed in a nasty two-vehicle crash outside Australia Zoo, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Police said a van was turning into Australia Zoo on Steve Irwin Way around 10.25am when it collided with a ute.

The driver of the van, a 57-year-old Canadian tourist, sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision.

Sadly, police confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be taken to hospital.

A female passenger from the van and the male driver of the ute escaped with only minor physical injuries.
