Man killed after ute crushed by tree on NSW motorway

A man has died after his ute was crushed by a tree at Cataract, north of Wollongong, this morning.

Police say that around 9.20am, emergency services were called to the M1 Princes Motorway, following reports a tree had fallen on a Mitsubishi Triton utility whilst travelling southbound near the Picton Road overpass.

The cab of the utility was crushed and the driver, who is yet to be identified, was trapped.

Whilst being treated, he died at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
