Man killed, wife rescued by neighbour after horror house fire

A 72-year-old man has tragically died after a massive blaze tore through a home in Brisbane’s south late last night.

The man’s 71-year-old wife miraculously managed to escape the inferno after being rescued by neighbours.

The fire erupted at a house on Gregory Street at Acacia Ridge just before 10.00pm on Thursday.

The elderly couples neighbour, a 56-year-old man, saw the blaze take hold of the home and ran to their aid.

He was able to assist the woman out of the house, but sadly, the 72-year-old man was later located deceased inside.

Both the neighbour and woman have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A crime scene has been declared at the home as investigators work to determine the cause of the fire.
