Man ‘knowingly infected’ woman he met on social media with HIV

A man who allegedly infected a woman he met on social media with HIV is due to face court today.

The 37-year-old Sydney man was arrested at his home in Miranda around 6.00pm last night.

It comes after officers launched an investigation into reports a woman had been knowingly infected with a communicable disease, medically known as HIV.

Police allege the man met the woman through social media and engaged in unprotected, consensual sex with the woman without informing her of his condition.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was charged with have sexually transmissible disease etc not prevent spread.

The man was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today.
