Man lashes out at police following violent sex assault in Sydney

A MAN accused of violently sexually assaulting a woman as she walked along a street in Sydney yesterday afternoon has allegedly lashed out at police after being arrested.

Police said the 33-year-old woman was walking along Emmett Street in Crows Nest on the city’s North Shore around 5.40pm when she was bailed up by an unknown man.

It’s alleged the man grabbed the woman by the wrists, pushed her up against a fence and indecently assaulted her.

A passer-by rushed to the woman’s aid and called police after the man ran from the scene.

An off-duty officer arrested the 40-year-old man a short time later.

He was taken to North Sydney Police Station where it is alleged he then assaulted to police officers.

The man was charged with assault with an act of indecency and two counts of assault police.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today.

Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are continuing with any witnesses asked to contact police.
