Man left fighting for life after horror NSW crash

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after losing control of his car and slamming into a brick wall in Sydney’s west overnight.

The accident happened on Smithfield Road in Prairiewood just after midnight.

Police said the 33-year-old man lost control of his car and crashed into a brick fence outside a house.

But the vehicle didn’t stop there.

It rebounded off the fence and was tossed back into the middle of the road.

Both the front and back of the vehicle was crushed in the crash.

The driver was trapped in the mangled wreck for a short time before being freed by emergency services.

He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Miraculously, a 31-year-old woman who had been sitting in the front passenger seat escaped serious injury.

She too was taken to Liverpool Hospital, but only for observation.

As investigations into the cause of the crash continue, police are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet come forward, to contact Crime Stoppers.
