A 37-year-old man is expected to be charged with a number of serious offences after he failed to stop for police at Helensvale in the early hours of this morning.
Around 2.20am, police tried to intercept a car with stolen plates on the Pacific Motorway at Helensvale. The vehicle failed to stop.
The vehicle continued into Helensvale and was later located by police parked in Marble Arch at Arundel.

The driver was outside the vehicle and got back into the car once police arrived.
Police approached the vehicle and observed the offender attempting to set fire to the passenger seat.
Police smashed the window of the car and removed the offender from the vehicle taking him into custody.
Two officers received cuts from the broken glass.
Investigations are continuing.
