Man lucky to be alive after being run over and pinned under car in Southport

A MAN is recovering in hospital this morning, lucky to be alive after he was run over by a car in Southport last night.

The 23-year-old man was attempting to cross Ferry Road at Harvest Court when he was struck around 8.30pm.

Police said the man was pinned underneath the vehicle and had to be extracted by emergency services.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Amazingly, police said the man was transported in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
