A MAN has needed facial surgery after being attacked with a wine glass at a restaurant in Cairns.
Police said the 37-year-old was attending a celebratory dinner at an eatery on Florence Street when he began arguing with a 43-year-old man known to him around 10pm on Friday.
During the argument, it’s alleged the older man picked up a wine glass and smashed it in the younger man’s face before leaving.

The victim suffered deep lacerations and was expected to undergo surgery at Cairns Base Hospital, police said.
The older man later attended the same hospital with minor injuries.
Police are investigating the incident and say the 43-year-old man is assisting them with their inquiries.
