Police hunting man after horror assault in Surfers Paradise

A man has been rushed to hospital after allegedly being punched unconscious on the glitter strip in the early hours of this morning.

The alleged attack happened on Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise around 2.30am.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the 32-year-old victim was punched in the head, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.


He was treated at the scene by critical care paramedics for a large laceration to the back of his head.

The man was then rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police said the offender ran off, and remains at large this morning.

Investigations are continuing.
