Man perishes in horror house fire
A MAN has tragically died after becoming trapped in a horror house fire in Melbourne’s west.
Firefighters were called to the single storey brick home on Strickland Crescent at Burnside just before midday on Saturday.
The Country Fire Authority said crews arrived to find a 37-year-old man trapped inside a bedroom that was on fire.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man could not be saved.
“Crews from Caroline Springs, Melton and MFB attended and immediately began searching for the male,” the CFA said in a statement.
Seven crews were dispatched to the home. It took them 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
“The male was located and pronounced dead at the scene,” the CFA said.
Three other people who are also believed to live at the house were taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.
It was not immediately known what caused the fire.
Victoria Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
