Man perishes in NSW house fire

A MAN has perished in a house fire at Greenwell Point, on the NSW south coast.

Firefighters were called to the house ablaze on Greenwell Point Road shortly after 6.30am.

They arrived to find the house well alight and sprung into action amid reports two people were unaccounted for.

Multiple crews from Fire & Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service raced to douse the flames, but it was too late.

The building sustained extensive damage.

After extinguishing the inferno, crews searched the home, finding the body of a 70-year-old man.

A woman who also resides at the house was later located in Sydney.

Investigators say the fire does not appear to be suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
