Man perishes in Queensland house fire

A MAN reported to be confined to a wheelchair has sadly perished in a house fire in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The man’s Beerwah Parade home at Beerwah went up in flames just before 6.30pm on Thursday.

Firefighters raced to douse the blaze and stop it from spreading, but the house could not be saved.

Sadly, once the flames were extinguished, crews searched the home and found a person deceased inside.

The man who lives at the property is believed to be a paraplegic.

Investigators were still trying to formally identify the victim on Friday morning.

Fire crews are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze.
