Man potentially missing at sea after woman’s body found on NSW beach

POLICE are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body found on a beach in Sydney overnight.

A passerby found the body on the northern end of Maroubra Beach around 12.10am on Friday.

Police were still working to formally identify the woman, believed to be in her 40s, on Friday morning.

Police say the woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious but investigations are continuing.

Clothing belonging to both a man and a woman were found on the beach nearby the woman’s body.

As a result, police and lifeguards were on Friday searching the area for a potentially missing person.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
