Man punched unconscious in pub fight

A MAN has been charged with knocking another man unconscious with a single punch outside a pub in Sydney overnight.

Police said the two men, both aged 24, became involved in a fight outside O’Malley’s Hotel on William Street at Woolloomooloo about 2.15am.

It’s alleged during the altercation, one of the men charged at the other and struck him once in the head, rendering him unconscious.

Paramedics were called and stabilised the victim at the scene before taking him to St Vincent’s Hospital. He has since been released.

The second 24-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to King Cross Police Station for questioning.

He has since been charged with affray, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and resist/assault police officer in execution of duty.

The 24-year-old was released on bail and is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court next month.
