Man recovering after nearly drowning at Gold Coast beach

A man’s recovering this morning, after a near drowning on the Gold Coast yesterday.

It happened at Main Beach just after 5.00pm.

It’s understood the man was out of the water before emergency services arrived.

Paramedics were called to the beach near McArthur Parade and Stafford Avenue, where they briefly treated a male in his 40s.

Critical care paramedics were also called to the scene.

The man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment a short time later.

He’s believed to be in a stable condition.

My brother, Michael Hill, was the volunteer life-saver who rescued this man. He had finished his duty at Main Beach and had just got dressed to go home for the day. What a hero! So proud of him, and all the other life-savers, who put themselves in danger to keep us safe at the beach each summer! ? ?
