Man on the run after attempting to rob GC chemist armed with syringe

A man is on the run after attempting to rob a chemist in Southport while armed with a syringe.

Police said the man entered the business on Nerang Street around 9:20pm Sunday and demanded medication.

When the man was refused access to the medication he pulled out a syringe and threatened a staff member.

The staff member refused again and the man fled the store on foot and was last seen travelling towards Queen Street.

The man is described as Caucasian, approximately 170cm tall, of a thin build, aged in his 40s with a small stubbly beard.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, shorts, dark-coloured shoes, and a light-coloured baseball cap.
