Man run over and killed by cattle truck in front of horrified showgoers

A MAN has tragically died in front of his family after being run over by his own truck in a freak accident at the Woodford Show, north of Brisbane.

Cattle donor Brian King, 58, was reversing his truck into cattle yards at the Woodford Showgrounds when tragedy struck as the two-day show was coming to close on Saturday night.

It’s understood Mr King opened his door and went to get out of the cabin but misjudged his step and slipped under the wheels of the truck, which was still moving.

Witnesses performed CPR in a desperate attempt to keep the 58-year-old alive until paramedics arrived, but there was nothing they could do.

Police confirmed Mr King sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It’s understood Mr King had donated some of his rodeo cattle to the show and was preparing to load them into his truck at the end of the night when the accident occurred.

Members of Mr King’s family are believed to have witnessed tragedy.

Police are investigating the incident, alongside Workplace Health and Safety, but say there are no suspicious circumstances.

They will prepare a report for the coroner.
