The man who raped and killed French student Sophie Collombet as she walked home from University in South Brisbane has been jailed for life.
Benjamin Milward, 28, was sentenced to 15 years for rape and life behind bars for murder, in Brisbane’s Supreme Court this morning.
In sentencing, Justice Ann Lyons told Milward that his “actions simply defy belief.”

“You attacked a defenceless woman, you showed her no respect,” Justice Lyons said.
“You treated her appallingly and then left her. You abandoned a severely injured woman.”
Ms Collombet’s naked and badly beaten body was found in a rotunda at Kurilpa Park by a jogger on March 28, 2014.
Milward will be eligible for parole in 20 years.
