Man seriously injured in accident on NSW worksite

A MAN has been seriously injured in a nasty workplace accident on a building site in Sydney’s south.

It’s understood a pile of concrete mesh collapsed on the man at the Gerrale St site in Cronulla just before midday.

The man was confined to the bottom of a 15 metre construction pit, unable to move his legs.

Emergency services were forced to perform a “difficult vertical extrication” to retrieve the worker.

The man in his 30s was strapped to a spinal board before being winched out of the pit.

He is believed to have sustained serious leg injuries and a possible head injury.

It’s understood the man was alert and conscious during the rescue operation.

Paramedics worked to stabilise him at the since before he could be transported to St George Hospital.
