A man has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after falling from a Christmas tree at a popular shopping centre in Tasmania.
Police said the 33-year-old man fell around 5m from the tree in Launceston’s Brisbane St Mall about 11.30pm last night.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

Investigations into the circumstances which led to the man falling from the tree are ongoing, however police issued a warning to people, urging them to stay safe while drinking over the Christmas period.
“Police would like to remind everyone to stay safe especially at this time of year when many people consume alcohol,” Inspector Michael Johnston said.
“We want people to have fun but not put their lives, or other people’s lives at risk.”
