A MAN has been airlifted to hospital following a horror machinery accident on the Darling Downs.
The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, was crushed while helping clear out a dam on a rural property near Toowoomba on Wednesday afternoon.
The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the scene shortly before 4pm.

A RACQ LifeFlight statement said the man was crushed between an excavator and a skid steer loader.
“The man, aged in his twenties, was helping to clear out a dam with the heavy machinery, when the bobcat (sic) became bogged in mud,” the statement said.
“He was assisting with the removal of the trapped bobcat (sic) and was standing next to the excavator, when its bucket dropped down and crushed him.”
The man sustained serious head injuries and was flown to a hospital in Brisbane.
He was airlifted in a serious condition.
