Man sets fire to Brisbane home after domestic dispute

A man has been charged after allegedly trying to burn down a house during a domestic dispute in Brisbane on Thursday night.

The drama began around 7.00pm local time when police were called to a Wynnum West home after reports a man was making threats against his ex-wife and children.

According to initial reports, the man had already left his ex-wife’s home when officers arrived.

It’s alleged he then went back to his own home, locked the doors, armed himself with a knife and then set the house on fire.

Police managed to get inside the home and pull the man out, allowing fire services to extinguish the blaze.

The house suffered some damage in the fire but the man got out without injury.

It’s believed the man was charged with attempted arson, threatening violence and serious assault of a police officer and is set to appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court today.
