Man shot while attacking police outside Notre Dame
A man has been shot by police – shouting “this is for Syria” outside Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The man armed with a hammer wounded a police officer before he was gunned down.
Authorities say the attacker was carrying an identification card of an Algerian student.
It’s being treated as a possible terror attack.
The incident is the first since President Emmanuel Macron won power last month and days before the first round of a parliamentary election in France.
