Man shot in the buttocks while hunting with his mates in NSW

A MAN has escaped serious injury after being shot in the buttocks while hunting with a group of mates in NSW.

The group of six friends were hunting in remote bushland off Black Stump Way at Coolah, in the state’s Central West, around 8am on Sunday when the 24-year-old was shot.

Police have been told the incident was an accident.


The injured man was flown to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for treatment.

Police said the man’s gunshot wound was not life-threatening.

A 44-year-old man was interviewed by police but later released without charge.

His Firearms Licence and firearms was seized while police continue their investigation.
