Man shot dead by Police on Sydney’s northern beaches

A man has died after being shot by Police on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Police were called to reports of a domestic incident at a home on Belinda Place in Newport around 1.50am on Thursday.

Officers attempted to speak to a 39-year-old man before a confrontation broke out.

There are reports the man lunged at Police with a knife.

The two officers shot at the man, leaving him critically injured.

The man died at the scene.

A critical incident investigation has now been launched into the incident.
