Man shot dead by Sydney Police

A man has died after being shot by Police on Sydney’s northern beaches.

Officers were responding to reports of a domestic-related incident at a home on Mona Vale Rd at Ingleside just after 9.30pm on Saturday night.

They spoke to a 53-year-old man who the allegedly armed himself with a shotgun and pointed it at Police.

Officers opened fire, shooting the man in the leg.

They applied first aid before the man was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

He died a short time later.

A Critical Incident investigation has now been launched by NSW Police to be headed up by the Homicide Squad.
