Man shot dead in front yard of Qld home

UPDATE: Detectives have charged a 26-year-old Rothwell man over the shooting murder of a man at Deception Bay on Sunday night.

The man will appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today charged with on one count of murder and failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

It’s reported police are still hunting for more suspects, and have set up an Investigation Centre at Redcliffe Police Station.


Detectives are urging anyone with further information or relevant dashcam or CCTV to contact police.

EARLIER – Monday 3 September @ 6:30am: A murder investigation is underway after a man was shot dead in the front yard of a home at Deception Bay overnight.

It’s understood a small group of men turned up at the Thompson Street address around 11.30pm and a fight broke out.

“The male resident of the house has received a gunshot wound to the sternum and died at the scene,” Qld police said in a statement.

The group of men then left in a car and remain at large.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information or relevant dashcam or CCTV to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
