Man shot dead in targeted attack at unit complex

A MAN has died after being shot multiple times in a targeted attack at a unit complex in Sydney’s west overnight.

Emergency services were called to reports of a shooting at the Gundaroo Street address in Villawood just after 9pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 40-year-old man inside the building with multiple gunshot wounds.

Ambulance officers tried desperately to keep the man alive, but sadly he died at the scene.

Police were still working to formally identify the man early on Sunday morning.

Officers from Bankstown Local Area Command have established a crime scene and investigations are continuing.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted.
