Man shot after home sprayed with bullets

A MAN has been shot in the leg after his house was sprayed with bullets in the NSW lower Hunter Valley overnight.

Police said they were called to reports of shots fired at the Deschamps Close home at Thornton, 12km east of Maitland, just after midnight.

It’s believed a volley of shots were fired into the home from the street.

The victim, a 44-year-old man,was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Police said the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Detectives attached to the Port Stephens/Hunter Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
